Day 521, Dr Zachary Smith

In more than one episode of Lost in Space, Dr. Smith was left behind with the women. During these episodes he had an irritating disregard for the well being of these female crew members. Often there would be a scene in which the women (one or more of them) would have words with Smith. This comes from one such scene. If I find time I want to find these moments and draw some of them.
This particular scene was drawn several years ago. It sat around for a long time before I decided to paint it.

Day 522

This is a picture I’m painting in acrylic. I’m not done. I’ve decided that I need to get back to my artwork more I’m spending too much time thinking about words.

Monday, August 31, 2015

This is a picture I drew long time ago it’s been sitting ready to go onto my blog but I never got around to it. Instead I have been writing and working at my job and not doing what I love most. I love to draw and paint. But because mostly I love drawing the pictures I find words just don't come as easily. I find the more I read the easier they come. Also I used to spend most my time worrying about what other people would think

Liking what I do....

The last year I have been working on illustrating And writing a children's book. Therefore, that project has gotten in the way of what I do here. At this point it has been practically nothing here. And it doesn't make me happy because this was I enjoyed most. The children's book and the process of deciding how to hopefully get published has gotten in the way. I need to begin looking at that. First and foremost I want to do it for my grandkids. From now on I'm going to be thinking of them and make my books for them.... All spontaneity and enjoyment of making art went out the door the day I decided I wanted to be published.... I haven't enjoyed that.

Day 523, Inspired by Lost in Space

A lost piece of art. Really this was somehow the beginnings when I started thinking on doing a children's book.

Day 524, A Horse

This I drew several years ago. It was on watercolor paper. I am finally getting back to it.
This is the final result. I will try again. But I want to get back to some Lost in Space.

Day 525, A Spacy Picture

This is about as far as I want to go on this.
I know it really doesn't look a lot like Judy Robinson. I wasn't thinking of her when I drew this. I wanted it to be a girl dancing. But I don't have a model and I don't love any of the pictures I find on the Internet. So I end up doing a lot from my imagination. I am thinking on making my daughter pose as my dancer.

Day 526, Always There Lost in Space

Much of what I have been doing these last 7 years is inspired by either Lost in Space or Star Trek. But in my personal projects that I have been working on I have tried to avoid some of that. Here, I was trying to capture the fluid movements of a dancer. But somehow it looks a little like Judy Robinson. I started to paint this and will try to put that here too.

Day 527... A Few Months Without Lost in Space

This was inspired by Star Trek.... I have been busy on lots of things... mostly work. But I do still do art. I have been working on a picture book. But also been being a grandma. I keep wanting to get back to Lost in Space. More cartoonish than anything.

Day 528, Minding the p's and q's

Something I did long ago... Minding the p's and q's. I was in the middle of drawing mermaid pictures when I thought of this.

Day 529, A Greeny Moony Post

My cat Cheyenne served as a model. She is so very good and patient with me. She has her claw in my backside now to make me do her bidding. Silly cat!!

Someday I will be back to doing other art. Maybe even more Lost in Space art. But for the short while I am pleasing the cat.

Day 530, Inspired by Lost in Space

Lost in Space has gone to the cats. But that there spaceship.... is hardly the Jupiter 2. In my world I call my spaceship the Andromeda 3.  I have been hankering to do more Lost in Space art. I have been watching a lot of it. But I have been sidetracked by these two.... My Jazzie Jessie and Cheyenne. Also by my grandson. It can be difficult working, babysitting, taking care of 5 cats and my mom. Somewhere in there I squeeze in a little of this kind of art. The shadow art was inspired by Angela Cartwright's shadow stamps.

Idioms Illustrated

I did this last Spring... and have thought to post it. Will post more soon. These were for school... per the teacher's request... it has become important to me. Therefore, on my own time I am illustrating my own book  regarding idioms.

This is done in colored pencil... I am not used to such. I normally work in acrylic or watercolor.

Day 531, Jazzie Jessie on an alien Worldli

My cat served as model for this watercolor I did. This is an illustration for one of the stories I have been working on.

Day 532, The Space Primevals

The Lost in  Space episode The Space Primevals is always a great one to watch. In this episode the robot dresses up with feathers, does a dissapearing act, and shows off some of his tricks. He chants and "dances" with the "cavemen"... But hey! Those cave men aren't really cavemen!

And then there is Dr. Zachary Smith. Being not himself.... But more reflective and kinder.

Day 533 ... Somewhere Lost in Space.

I know this is inspired by a second season episode of lost in Space. But I am not sure which. I added my cats Cheyenne and Jazzie Jessie. I just realized how seldom I am posting now. This isn't good. I have been working on several children's picture books. Not good not to post.

Day 534, Lost in Space, Two Weeks in Space

This was inspired by Two Weeks in Space. I love this episode. I especially love the interaction between Jonathan Harris and Edy Williams. Her name "Non" is so alien. The idea of the Jupiter 2 being transformed into Happy Acres Hotel is hilarious.

Day 535, Smith and the Andriod

I always loved The Android Machine. Poor Verda was more human than Dr. Smith. She was always trying to please Smith. But he was somewhat unpleaseable. Actually, I don't think my Verda looks much like the real Verda did. Every time I look at this one she looks a lot like the actress Olivia Hussey. That was unintentional.

Day 536, Watercolor Horse

This horse started out much different than it looks! I drew 4 others which I want to paint with watercolor. If I get time.
